Are You Ready for a revolution?
Whether you've been following my journey online or just here with me in this newsletter, your presence means the world to me. I truly believe in the power of our words and energy, and I want to thank you for sharing some of yours with me. It creates a connection that I deeply value.
Lately, my heart has been heavy watching the way we interact with each other in the world. Scrolling through social media, seeing the harshness and judgment... it makes me wonder, where has our common kindness gone? It's not okay for us to tear each other down, publicly or privately. When we attack each other as individuals, we're feeding a system of division that ultimately weakens us all.
This has led me to a powerful realization: it's time for a shift. A shift towards truly seeing one another, not just for our differences, but with a genuine desire to understand each other's perspectives. Imagine conversations rooted in curiosity, in trying to meet in the middle, instead of instantly resorting to hate just because we disagree. This realization has also inspired the launch of a new in person ceremony and talking circle series starting in May “Burning Barriers. Building Bridges." where we will reclaim humanity through shared stories.
This isn't just about being nicer online; it's about something much deeper. It's about rebelling against the very things we've been taught over generations that tell us how to be, how to think, how to act in order to be "successful" or to fit into some pre-defined box. Society often lays out this rigid path: go to school, get a degree, have a family, the white picket fence... but what if that doesn't resonate with who you truly are?
In a world filled with chaos, controversy, and division, I want to start a different kind of conversation. A conversation about reconnecting with each other as humans. It's about being able to disagree with someone while still acknowledging their humanity and respecting their perspective enough to truly listen and understand where they're coming from. Even if we walk away still disagreeing, the act of seeking understanding is a powerful bridge.
Our differing opinions shouldn't make us weaker; they should make us stronger! How boring would it be if we were all surrounded by people who thought exactly like us? I value the people in my life who challenge my thinking, even when their views seem completely different from mine. They push me to grow and see the world in new ways.
That's why I'm so excited to announce a shift in the focus of this newsletter. I've been reflecting a lot on the idea of rebellion. We often think of rebels as these tough figures defying the mainstream. And while I admire that spirit, my own acts of rebellion have often been more personal – like experimenting with crazy hair colors just to prove I didn't need anyone's permission to express myself (and yes, I still got that great professional job with orange hair!).
Today, my focus is on a different kind of rebellion: a soulful rebellion. It's about each of us individually challenging the way we approach life from within.
Are you living by a script of what you should do to be successful? Are you pursuing a certain path because society says you have to? I'm challenging that. I'm saying you don't have to! To move forward as a human race, we need to be willing to face our own internal conflicts and gain the confidence to say, "I'm going to challenge that."
Think about it: how often do we prioritize external demands over our own well-being and growth? We feel obligated to our jobs, to societal expectations, sometimes even at the expense of opportunities that could help us tap into our true potential. It's okay to make yourself a priority. It's okay to push back against those rigid rules we've internalized.
The soulful rebel isn't just about blindly opposing; it's about thoughtfully questioning and choosing a different path – one that aligns with your authentic self.
This newsletter is now going to be a space where we explore this soulful rebellion together. We'll delve into how to break free from those limiting societal norms and conditioning that keep us disconnected from ourselves. Because when we truly connect with who we are at our core, we unlock a deep well of confidence. And from that confidence, we can build our best lives and, in turn, build a world where healthy, authentic people connect with each other in meaningful ways.
What's your rebel cause today? I'd love for you to start thinking about it.
I'm truly excited about this new direction and the journey we'll take together. Stay tuned for the next edition where we'll dive deeper into what it means to live a life of soulful rebellion.
