For those of us who have been on this journey for a long time, we know the weight of "depth."
We spend so much time in constant reflection. We are always evaluating: Where have I been conditioned? Is this my own voice or someone else’s? Am I living in my authenticity? We peel back the layers, we undo what we thought we knew, and we re-evaluate everything. It is a necessary, beautiful, and sometimes grueling process.
But I’ve realized something lately: If we aren't careful, this journey can become heavy. The work can start to feel like a chore. When we spend all our time in the "work" of growth, we can accidentally become counterproductive. We get so used to fixing, analyzing, and "becoming" that we forget to just be.
The last few months have reminded me of this.
My family decided to sell our house. We’ve been so grateful for the space; it has held us and supported us while we became the grounded versions of ourselves we are today. But we felt a strong, undeniable tug to go find the next level of joy in life.
That decision came with a mountain of fear. I’ve spent the last few months working through the "what ifs." I was worried about my son’s school—what if the next one didn’t have the magic we had found? I worried about the location, the convenience, the friends, and the community. I spent so much energy reprogramming the conditioning that told me change was a threat. And then there was the physical task: getting the house ready, the painting, the decluttering, and the constant state of "being ready" for a showing.
It’s a massive feat for a family of five, and while the house is still for sale and we are still navigating this limbo, the hurdles have required our undivided attention.
Throughout all of this, I was in full "growth armor." I was constantly scanning for hurdles. Every challenge felt like a test, and every test felt like a growth opportunity. I was so focused on digging deep, re-understanding my behaviors, and moving through fear that I couldn't see the finish line. I felt like if I wasn't "doing the work" of evaluating the stress, I wasn't doing it right.
Then, this morning, I woke up with a singular craving: I needed to laugh.
I didn't just want a polite smile; I needed a belly laugh. I found myself watching comedy skits online—just letting myself giggle at the sheer absurdity of life.
And as I leaned into that joy, I realized something important—not just for me, but for you, too.
If you are reading this, I know you have been doing the work. You have been the one scanning for the hurdles, peeling back the layers, and facing the fear. But growth isn't just about digging; it’s about the harvest.
We often fear that if we aren't in "growth mode," we’re somehow sliding backward or becoming stagnant. But life has a way of presenting us with growth organically, in its own perfect timing. You don’t need to go hunting for the next hurdle; the universe will bring it to you when you’re ready for the next level.
For now, your only assignment is to pause, laugh, and love so you can reap what you have already sown.
You don't always need to be in "analysis mode." My body was essentially saying: “Hey, look at the hurdles you’ve already moved past. There’s nothing left to do here but trust the process. Just enjoy the ride.”
That moment of laughter was a prayer of gratitude. I am so grateful that I came to this life experience—to see this crazy, complex, beautiful world. Even when I see things that are heavy or hard, I also see so much creativity and wonder. It’s all here, all at once.
Sometimes, the most radical thing you can do for your personal growth is to stop "growing" for a moment and start living.
This week, I invite you to ask yourself: Are you still looking for a hurdle to jump, or is it time to reap the harvest and enjoy the ride?
You’ve done the work. You’ve faced the fears. You’ve come so far. Now, give yourself permission to find that belly laugh—even if you’re still waiting for your "house to sell" or your next chapter to begin. The revolution isn’t just about the depth—it’s about the joy, too.
If you’re local to the Madison, WI area and the idea of "pausing" feels hard to do on your own, I’d love for you to join me for a sound bath at the end of this month. It’s a dedicated space to put down the "growth armor," clear your nervous system, and simply receive. You can find the details and grab your spot in the Events section.
And if you find that "reaping the harvest" feels more difficult than the digging—or if you aren't sure how to step out of "analysis mode" and into your next level of joy without feeling like you're falling behind—I am here to support you. You don't have to navigate this transition alone. If you’re ready to integrate the work you've already done and finally start enjoying the view from the next seat in your life, I would love to walk that path with you. Just reply to this email, and let’s talk.
Stay steady,
